Andrei, my friend,

Thanks for being there to document the resistance.

Turkey's PM Erdogan said if they wanted to bring 1 million people to the street they could have. (Would like to remind you that his prone-to-violence supporters chanted yesterday about "crushing" those who have been protesting Erdogan in Taksim, Istanbul.)

Bulent Arinc, one of Turkey's Deputy PM's, said if they wanted to, they could have shut down Internet access. Erdogan and his government have been blaming social media for the protests.

Melih Gokcek, the mayor of Ankara, the capital, and a member of Erdogan's political party, said if they wanted to, they could have "drowned" the protestors in only a spoonful of water.

The people of Turkey are protesting exactly for this reason: Erdogan and his colleagues believe that they have the right to do whatever they WANT. They believe they can crush you, drown you or take away your freedoms.

Take care,

Serkan
